RP: Did you use an Alt or your Main?

...since LL doesn't seem to wanna give us more than the 25 Group limit...and I rent stalls, am in Groups for discussions, updates...

I have been lookin' around for about 2 months for an "RP home", but I think I might have to use an Alt instead of Xio to get into RP, since I need my Group Slots for business, etc

I HAVE noticed, a lot more people play with Alts now than they did say 2 years ago, in RP Sims...I might go that route. Too bad that means I wouldn't have Xios collection of guns, mohawks and motorcycles to carry over

that just means shopping!

Not that I HATE shoppin' in SL, but I should take it slow for a while, lol. I ain't exactly... Ordinal Malaprop over here, I'm broke!

For me when/if I roleplay in SL it will be with one or more alts. My reason being each has their own personality, and their name should fit that personality. Sure you can change an Avies appearance in a few clicks but they name is for ever.

I HAVE noticed that a lot of the more developed characters tend to have avatar names that fit the personality, species, or genre better than, say... "NeonCasino Corleone" the Shadow Demon ...or whatever

Just me, no matter what I do in SL.

I actually created an Alt specifically for some RP and other fantasies that I wanted to try out. Now the Alt has become the Main and I have been tossed to the corner, rarely allowed to log in anymore.

My characters are usually very developed and thought out, they have their whole lives behind them. Usually I consider everything from their birth and childhood right up till current. They are not "This is how they are just because." characters, events of their past shape them.

Yeah, I love to see that...it's too bad the description can't be even longer (in a single "Picks" frame)... I'm working on a new one, which is tricky, since I'll probably be in more than one kind of RP Sim, but I don't have room to write say, 3 characters!

...even when I used to play City Of Heroes, my characters always had a real name, place of birth, height, weight, history & motivation, likes & dislikes, all spelled out, lol

So far I think I'll pick Toxian City, I've been hanging around in observer mode...Sure wish there was a decent Zombie RP Sim...last I went, "I am Legend" was horrible...players could barely hit the zombies with those weapons. But I digress.

i don't RP, but i do wear costumes once in awhile, and i use me.

I rp on occasion and use my alts to scope out new rp sims..matter of fact i saw Xio a few nights back in Toxian..recognised his name and watched him try on mohawks for awhile and then poofed.

Usually i try RP with my main..i guess cause..well..RP leads to deeper friendships sometimes.sometimes just the opposite..and id like my main to benefit from that.

I'm really trying to use my alts for things that my main simply can't do..enter SIMs..retrieve unpaid for builds etc. so yea my main for all else.

I came to SL specifically to continue the rp in which I had been involved on IRC for many years. However, after arriving and experiencing the vast spectrum of what SL offers, I no longer participate in that particular rp and Czari is the SL extension of me.

I do enjoy a bit of rp, however, and have struggled a bit with "Should I use Czari or an alt?"

Due to the restrictions of 25 groups plus preferring a name in keeping with rp themes, I do use an alt now for that purpose. Whenever I am logged onto the alt though, it never really feels like "me."

I would be interested in addressing some of Twosteppin's fantasies.

But the fantasies all belong to the Alt now, so you'll have to talk to her.

I created an Alt strictly for role play also. I never used my main for that purpose, although she does like to wear costumes now and then, but she never pretends to really be those particular people/things (pixies, spiders, reindeer, angels, genies, whatever).

My alt, on the other hand, was what she was. Which only a few people know of.

I've given up running her completely for ages now for various reasons and have decided not to use her ever again. I guess, I used her up for those fantasies, and sort of was able to incorporate some of them into my main in some aspects which were more in tune with my real self anyway. So, she became unnecessary. I didn't need a different persona in order to express those aspects of me any longer. It felt ok to be able to be that kind of playful, if I wanted to, without resorting to hiding behind another Av.
