Is the coming increase in tier fees causing all this Auction Fever?

With the impending mainland tier increases arriving (IMHO) in less than two months, will that only affect new purchases or all land? If so, is that why we're seeing this insane bidding frenzy?

Over $4000 US for a sim??

Did some folks get a little insider info from the Fetid Canker Sore about the date of increase or have a murder of Bigger Fool Investors simply moved in?

Mainland prices usually fluctuate simply based on supply and demand and nothing more. Prices are high right now because all the recent press and interest in SL has caused a huge population surge so there's a lot more people looking to buy land than in months past. No conspiracy theory necessary.

I think a lot of it has to do with some scarcity introduced by LL playing catch up with all the PI sims ordered in the big rush to get a PI at the old price level. I don't think they've been keeping pace with the mainland, and most of the new sims coming on have been PIs (which someone already owns). Or not.
