Initiatives: What direction to go?

I'm not sure that trying to "lobby" the lindens with closedowns and similar stuff is exactly the direction we should go. In my RL experience this just tends to affact the public opinion negatively.
I'm almost afraid to tell it, but seeing at the current trend, i doubt that the lindens will even try doing something radical to fight theft in SL, that's why i think our actions should primarily be aimed towards the public opinion and not towards the lindens themselves.
In the end the lindens might have the power to ban thieves (if they really wanted to, but do they?), but the ones that have the powerto throw thieves out of business are the customers themselves.
A good example of what content creators can do when they team up is the RFL events (And yea, i know that RFL's cause is much more important that is, but it's still a good example). Teaming together we can probably throw in a series of very succesful anti-piracy promotional events in world. We have the space to do it, the skills to do it (i'm sure that between us all there's all that's needed) and a whole lot of original prizes out of our stocks to draw in a monumental attendance.
Such events should be used to sensibilize the public opinion on the piracy problem (how many of them REALLY know?) and to let their see our point of view in this fight. It would be a positive approach to the problem that would probably bring at least a decent part of the public opinion on our side and help fight piracy better.
Of course those are just my two usual Linden Cents...

Shiryu...your two Linden cents are valuable. And the majority of Lindens we all have spoken too from Philip on down, support our idea 100%. Their are a lot of things they CAN'T do and there are a lot of things They WON'T do. But one thing they WILL do is give us better tools and fix bugs IF we stay on them. I believe our effectiveness will lie along those lines, in as much as coordination/follow-up/communication is concerned.

As with griefing, we cannot reasonably expect 30 people to police 350,000.

There is a lot of talent and experience here. Thats our biggest asset.

After almost a couple years i leaned to believe that the lindens will give me anything just when i see it done. In any case i wasn't advocating not to keep the pressure on the lindens as well, but i do think that a good deal of effort has to be done in educating and persuading the public opinion. After all the public represents our customers, not the lindens. If the customers are educated about piracy i'm fairly sure that many will avoid pirated products. A pretty decent blow to be dealt to texture stealers and scammers.

My business is just that, my business. If the focus of the group is to be a liason to LL to suggest better security measures, fine. If the focus of the group is to decide what I should do with my business such as strikes, closings, etc, this isn't the group for me.

Let me nip this in the bud. We are a group of people we all have different problems and each problem has different solutions. On top of this we all have our own concepts for solutions that will be different.

The group should not be about one type of solution or one type of reaction. Nor will the group be acting like a union that enforces members to do anything.

In my view there will be many committes that will spring up and fade over time. They will recommend various solutions to various problems. Some will remain fringe and some will be accepted by most of the members.

Our group is not about one problem but many problems. And its not about one solution but many solutions.

Lets not look at this as a struggle to make the group what we want or we will leave but instead lets follow multiple paths and propose multiple solutions. Lets dissagree about things in a friendly way. Lets follow multiple paths but carry the same flag :)

Mostly tho no-one will be asked to do anything they don't agree with.

We are an alliance not a dictatorship.
