I was recently (9-18-06) made aware that one of my outfits was being distributed via the LL library folder located in everyone's inventory. The outfit contains full mod rights and is not avaliable to over 700,000 residents of SL. Upon receiving this news, I immediatly called LL and spoke with Char Linden who assured me they would be taken out of the folder on the 18th of September. All she could tell me was that this was a bug and she was not sure how this happend.

I followed up with a letter to support and explained how disturbed I was that someone could take something that I had not even set in world with full permissions and place it into the library folder with just that "FULL PERMISSIONS". I received a response from Teresa Linden who informed me that this was in fact an exploit and that they are working to find it's origin. She also told me that the "said items" had since been removed, which is not true because as of today, 9-24-06, they are still there! She further told me that there would be no reimbursements and directed me to the Terms of Service 5.3. She appologized and reconfirmed that "The perpetrator will be found."

I am not sure how many of you have looked in the library folder lately - i know i do not frequent it. You might want to take a look, because you never know what you might find there. You might even see something of yours there. I just want to make all of my fellow creators aware of this issue.

Linden Rights?

A friend of mine had gotten reviews of his items on slexchange from Pathfinder Linden, Pointing out what he felt needed changed, and Pathfinder had never bought the item from him. Makes you wonder what powers Lindens have and how they choose to use these powers. Are they capable of taking a copy of anything they would like out of your inventory?

So how does this happen?
Database bug? Or can you just drop stuff on Alexandria Linden and it shows up in the Inventory?

lindens/inventory

I will give you that they tell us things are being fixed when usually they end up worse *giggles* but I have to say, I can't see them specifically taking things out of our inventory just to steal them from us. I mean if you take a look at who we're talking about here these are the creators of something that we love.. Do they really have to steal to have content to provide. These are the GODS of content. I do however think they need to be a bit more accountable than "Im Sorry" when there is a screw up. Most of us are paying members and A LOT of us pay a small fortune because of island and tier fees, so yes I would like a bit more than an IM SORRY when they have a mess up on their end. Im sorry this happend to you hon and I hope you get something other than an im sorry, but what are they supposed to do other than that? I have lost a ton of inventory to bugs and the hell my island has been through is a whole other issue lol and still only an im sorry. SOOOOOOOOOO if you guys think of something they can do to fix this for us.. Im game to hear it.. laughs.. GL guys and that sucks.. Hope it gets worked out

I took a look into this and I found a pair of jeans, that I know my friends can see in the clothing folder:

[Colt Designs] Big Rip Jeans

I IMd the creator Colt Spearmann and asked him if he knew and he won't beleive me lol, can everyone else see these jeans?

Lindens can do that. I don't think they do - among their god powers is conjuring up money, and I believe they have some sort of discretionary budget. If your item is for sale, I am sure they are more inclined to purchase it, rather than to just take a copy.

As adminstrators to the system, I fully expect that they'd occasionally take copies of items so they can test, find and fix problems with SL. It would, however, be bad form to take a copy of an item just for their personal use.

With regards to Teresa Linden's comment, "The perpetrator will be found." Are they implying that this was the act of a hacker, instead of just a Linden screwup?

Does anyone have a list of all the items that were made available through the library?

A few days ago, Dan Linden popped into Lusk on a cheerful morning and asked if any of us there had any full-perms freebie avatars that were high on prims, for assistance with testing some things. Being Dan Linden, I figure if he wanted something that badly he could have plucked any of 200 avvies from my inventory. But he asked, I didn't have any freebies that were *high* prim though. Nor were mine full perms (Thanks to certain people, I don't do transferable any more, sigh) :(
