After reading all the posts thus far in both threads it seems as though the consensus looks to be moving towards an open group and an elected slate of officers numbering 5 including one chairperson.

The best way for this to work would probably be for the 5 elected officers to nominate the chairperson among themselves and then also nominate a vice chair in case of emergency.

I am posting this here for a final moment and Stroker is going to start a proposal vote in world tomorrow if there are no strong objections among the troops!

Please post any suggestion for how to entertain nominations here

Have a great night all! Best Regards, Baccara

I agree - and five are enough - its the same IRL at places that work fine.. from boards to smaller associations - IF done like this you get it.

IF you dont like the five chosen ones you dont trust the group and then the solution are that you leave.

Go for this.

Is the forums a better place to do votes? In SL we can vote yes or no but in the forums we can have up to 10 options. This will be important later and so perhaps we should have all votes happen here?

This seems reasonable to me since inworld voting doesn't always involve a simple yes and no answer. However, i think anyone who trolls the forums and not a member of the Sellers Guild can vote also, so that should be takened into consideration.

The considerations were only members can vote using IW proposals, everyone in the group gets the proposal, a quick time limit can be set (2 days), and its not really a HUGE issue since we pretty much agree on the 5 Officers/Open aspect.

I agree with Psyke that we should have a better poll/vote system..but for matters of expedition this will work for now. It limits us to a members only vote.

We need to get this voting sorted out so we know who is running the show. To do that we need to get the structure voted on because it determines how many we are voting for.

Anyone can vote in the forums and anyone can join the IW group and vote.

What might be interesting for us is the new features for groups in SL 1.12:
From: SL History Wiki

Group Enhancements
  1. Group limit per user increased from 15 to 25
  2. Group member minimum reduced from 3 to 2
  3. The group information user interface has been redesigned

Group Notices
  1. Group notices can be created in the 'Group Information > Notices' tab
  2. Group notices can include an attachment
  3. Group notices are sent to all group members
  4. Members may opt to not receive these notices in the 'Group Information > General' tab
  5. Members can browse the last 30 days of notice history
  6. Members with IM to Email set will receive these notices offline

Group Roles
  1. Groups can be configured using the 'Group Information > Members & Roles' tab
  2. A group is now composed of up to 10 user-configured Roles
  3. Residents may hold more than one Role in a group
  4. Each role can be configured to allow certain group Actions
  5. Each role gets its own title
  6. Members of a group are assigned to Roles to define the Actions they can perform in that group

  7. Group members are always a part of that group's 'Everyone' role
  8. Example:
    1. Current groups have two Roles: 'Everyone' and 'Officer'
    2. All group members can do Actions allowed by the 'Everyone' role, such as voting on proposals
    3. Only group members assigned to the 'Officer' role can do Actions such as invite new members

  9. Groups now have a special role: 'Owner'
  10. 'Owners' have full control over the group, but cannot remove other 'Owners'
  11. Current groups will have members selected to be 'Owners' based on the first to match these rules:
    1. 1) A founder in the group
    2. 2) Officers with 512 or more sq. m. land contributed
    3. 3) All officers
    4. 4) Nobody (no 'Owner' role is created)
