The Bump Push and Hit report text needs to be copiable.

We have folks with names like 010000100111001001100001011011 Omlet and 0100001001110010011000010 Sonnerstein.

Having to manually type those names is not reasonable.

It's just retarded to use names like that... Definatly not someone i wana associate with. How would i name the guy? HEY OMELET! or hey You! The Binary dude!

The text in the BPH report needs to be copiable and or have a right click menu with some options like add to ban list on it.

Actually, Yiffy. I believe one of the long-binary name i found actually say Bra Omlet...or is it Bra Sonnerstein? Not sure :P They seem to have too much time while deciding name though :P

But hey, y'know. Deciding peopl from their name may not be so fair for them ;)

It's not just long binary names that are hard to type. There's a lot of tricky spellings and oddball names that are harder to type than names that are familiar to one.

The names that appear in the BPH report aren't there for the pleasure of reading; the information is being provide to use in other places in the program and the spelling needs to be exact.

Also, in the midst of an attack one doesn't really want to take the time to type any more than is absolutely necesary, and since the computer has the names readily available for copying, having to type the names is completely unnecessary.

Just Let Us Copy And Paste Dagnabbit

Just let us copy and paste, that's easier than adding hotlinks or any other special cases.

There's too many places in the SL UI you can't copy text that you really need to and have to retype it as it is. Just make that the default and THEN make exceptions for things like non-mod notecards and the like.

Yes, copy and paste is flexible and should be the norm. Precisely.

It's possible the retyping requirement is an inebriation filter. If you too wasted to type the offender's name correctly you shouldn't be filing an abuse report.

But to stay on track: the Bump Push Hit report in particular needs to be copy and paste equipped.

It's a shame this didn't get pushed for harder so it would included in the version we get today.

I proposed the copy protection for some notecards idea, in this forum topic.

Nevertheless I agree completely with SuezanneC Baskerville : Bump Push and Hit report text needs to be copiable, because it is indeed unreasonable to expect people to copy out long, names in the middle of an attack, especially when griefers intentionally make their names as difficult to type as possible.

For normal chatting they can provide a hex nick with their name... everything else is harassment.

The two binary codes above aren't "Bra." "Bra" is:
010000100111001001100001
As compaird to:
010000100111001001100001011011 Omlet
0100001001110010011000010 Sonnerstein

The point of this thread, lest it get lost, is that the information in the BPH report needs to be made copyable so that it can be pasted accurately into abuse reports, security orb black lists, etc.

I wen't ahead and filed a bug report about it. Not sure how far it will go... I see this as a exploit and i know how game/online_world developers hate those. :p

Subject: Name Registration problems

Body: I noticed people walking around with names like
010000100111001001100001011011 Omlet, and
0100001001110010011000010 Sonnerstein. I believe this shouldn't be allowed. It's impossible to know what to name those people...I think Account Registration should be as strict as the one from Anarchy Online and only allow 1 number for your name and the name needs to be more then 3 letters. I'm filing this as a bug cuz i see it as a obvious exploit. This isn't AOL we need better naming policies here. :)

Agreed. Copy and paste from BPH would be a very helpful implementation indeed :D
