......when 1.2xxx is unusable for me on the standard grid.

FPS .............................. excellent
ATI video problems ...........GONE!
sound problems ................NONE!
VBO problems ...................NONE!
Enable Basic Shaders..........NO Crashes!

I would stay there but................it is lonely! :(

Don't you mean 1.20.x? Because If 1.2.x works anywhere, I'd be amazed!

It's possible the beta-grid doesn't reflect the feature(s) that cause you problems, for example if it's glow that causes issues for your viewer but the beta-grid doesn't have any areas with glow. As an example only, I'm not sure what the specifics could be.

If the beta viewer works better for you than RC8, you can run that on the main grid too. You can add --grid agni to its command line, or get to a pulldown from the startup screen with ctrl-shift-g

Maybe the beta grid doesn't have 24/7 spy/spam/search/landbots bouncing from sim to sim and an asset server jam packed full of duplicated textures or does it use the main asset server? I wonder how much difference it would make with a minimal asset server. Wonder if we could write out own viwer to use a different asset server for textures.
And it has better server code than the main grid, I would hope.

Somehow the beta viewer got lucky. It has some much-needed bug fixes to RC6 but was rolled early enough to miss the worst breakage in RC7 in RC8.

I can run the Mono viewer (1-20-6-87323) on the main grid and it works fine. I use basic shaders and enable VBO for better frame rates 15-30 fps.

Any other 1-20-xxx viewer crashes as soon as basic shaders are enabled. With these disabled I crawl with a framerate of 2-5 fps. Enabling shaders, fps drops to .01 and the systems freezes and then crashes.

I have tried every driver (ATI) from 7.12 to 8.4 and get the best results with 7.12

Hmmm... I should try running the beta viewer on the main grid. I've been using 1.18.5.3 on the main grid because the newer releases were so unstable for me (on Linux even). However, the beta viewer runs just fine for me, on beta grid.

At the login screen hit Ctrl+Shift+G and a dropdown will appear.

Select Agni for the Main grid or Aditi for the Beta grid. :)

(works on most viewers)
