A short rant about preview information

Don't know if anyone else feels like me but this is what I think.

We do not have to go to preview grid, test and bug report. It would be much more enjoyable to play in the main grid. We are not paid for it and get no kind of compensation. But I get a lot out of SL and kinda feel like I can give a small part back by doing this. But we are beta testing and I feel like we are being shortchanged on information. The preview release notes are sparse and do not cover all that we end up seeing in the main grid after an update. There is just a trickle of info of what we can expect in the preview grid. We never now when it is up or down, there is no preview grid status indicator. We get very little feedback during testing as to what the big bugs are that have been reported. It would be nice if there was a list somewhere showing bugs reported to date, at least big ones. It would be nice if someone came into the preview grid forum and said grid is offline and will be for a few hours or days etc.

It was nice when a Linden did come in to the forum and say what priorities were this time on some of the bug fixes. This was in the thread about underwear. Why isn't this done somewhere on a consistent basis. SL we are helping you. Why not give us some feedback, let us know what is going on some. I am not asking for pages of data and someone spending hours updating a webpage. You already have enough to do. But we are spending hours in SIVA so why not take 5 mins to START a thread saying grid is down, or Underwear was an accident and we are going to fix that but we are fixing other stuff first. I am asking for a simple, single sentence every now and then.

Just my little thoughts on the subject, take em or leave em.

As for the know issues or bugs, this is what is on the main grid. And there priority on the fix-it list. But such a thing does not exist fot the Siva Preview Grid.

The thing that amazes me is how old some of these bugs are. all the way back to 1.6.

*sighs* Some of those bugs are even older than that.. that's just when they finally listed them.

I agree, a nice little indicator of Preview grid status would be nice. It doesn't have to be fancy, just a simple little box that says, with the words "Preview Grid Statis is:" and the responses could be as simple as, "Up" or "Down," with down covering the restricted to Linden logins. Put it on the Preview page.

I never felt the need to have a bug-tracking list for Preview. I bug report without reading the things anyways, and I figure that the more people that report the same bug without knowing completely about it, the likelier they are to fix it before it goes to the MG ;)

I would also like to say that this can actually help us if many people report the same issue, sometimes its very hard to reproduce a bug, which is what the developers needs to track down and fix these issues, and when more people report an issue, we can narrow things down, sometimes to operating systems, graphics cards or even better a simple set of steps to cause a bug, and even if you can see it happening often alot of other people may not so its one of the reasons we ask for as much detail as possible even if it sounds trivial

May I recomend a BugZilla then? At least for the preview grid.
