Notices just for particular roles?

Can you send a group notice to just particular people based on their role? Like send a group notice just to Officers and Elites (or whatever), but not to Apprentices? Or does a group notice go to the whole group no matter what?

And can you make a group chat session that just talks to people that are certain roles but does not involve those who are other roles?

I ask this because it will be super-lame if the answer to either of the above questions is "no."
Currently many of the groups I am in actually have four or five groups that you have to join, since they want to be able to just send group IMs to the "Security" people but not to the "Apprentices," for example. Then they have another group you have to join that is for everyone in any of the related groups. If the new group system does not fix this, then it will be a moot point, and people will continue to have multiple groups for this reason, despite the new features.

Selective adding

The other thing would be: can you set it to where certain roles can add members to all roles, whereas other roles can only add members to particular roles?

For example: an army group. The General should be able to add members to any rank, and promote anyone, wheras a Captain should be able to add members to the rank of Private but that's it. Can this be done?

If not I'm afraid you'll end up with similar problems again, with multiple groups where there should just be one, in order to allow people to control who can add/remove people from particular ranks, etc.

With regard to the questions about group IMs... the answer is "no but LL plans to implement this as soon as they can upgrade an old server to make it possible".
For details, read this.

no. You should be able to but you can't. Another thing I hope will come later.

With regards to group notices. Currently it is possible to set which roles are able to receive group notices - each role has a power/action "receive/view group notices". It isn't possible however to send one to just a particular role.

Well that sucks (although it's still better than how it is now, I'll grant you that much).

I mean, you NEED to have it to where a particular IM session can be started that only addresses particular roles. Otherwise people are still going to have multiple groups for multiple different "ranks" within their organization. And it should default to address only your particular role(s) when you start an IM session: like, every time you start an IM session, it only addresses those people who share your roles (but excludes anyone who doesn't).

You also NEED to have it to where particular roles can add members (but just to their role or to certain designated roles). That way, lower ranks can recruit into the lower ranks, meanwhile the upper ranks are unaffected.

Furthermore you NEED to have it set to where group notices can, like IMs, be sent only to particular roles that are designated by the sender. And, by default people should not be able to send notices outside their own roles, unless they are one of the higher ranking "master" roles that can send to anyone.

I applaud LL for making a much more robust group system, but without these needed changes, people will not be able to take full advantage of the new group system. Many organizations such as Grand Army of the Republic or Sith Legends, two that I'm in for Roleplay purposes, have rank-based systems and currently are forced to use multiple groups in order to represent the various different ranks. Currently, each different "rank group" has its own officers that can add people to that particular rank. Under the new system, if someone has the ability to add someone to the group and change their role, there would be nothing stopping them from making that person (or themselves) the highest rank possible if they felt like it. Therefore, groups will continue to use multiple groups to keep the ranks separated, whereas if you make the above-mentioned changes, then it can all be done with one group. That would in turn free up a lot more group slots for people like me who have to join three or four groups for a single organization in order to account for that fact.

Thanks
