Very cool. :)

But how can we test this if we can not get to the land we owne to try it? And there is none FS in the sims we can get to.

[20:26] You: http:\\www.google.com
[20:27] You: http://www.google.com/
[20:27] You: www.google.com

Out of the 3 tries above, only the middle: http://www.google.com was color coded/underlined and acts as a hyperlink. I can live with that. I would rather err on the side of caution then have it messing up other output in the history window.

[20:32] You: secondlife://SupportforHealing/135/145/44

Is highlighted and underlined correctly also.

These were hyperlinked. First one may be acceptable, I don't know. Are the other two supposed to be?

[1:41] You: secondlife://Ahern/124/124
[1:41] You: secondlife://Ahern/124
[1:41] You: secondlife://Ahern/

Ok, the Map does accept them, but it uses default values of 128/128/0 when a number is not specified and 0 if the number specified was negative. Props the SLURL, so I guess those are proper hyperlinks. :)

This also hyperlinked:

[1:43] You: http://w

Wow, THIS did hyperlink (correctly too) (forum shortened link)
http://www.dragon-realms.com/index.php?page=decoder&showinput=1&dcc=DC2.Dw+Gm+L-+W-+T+Sks+Cag%5E+Bco%7C%23+A-+Fr%2B%2B+Nu+Mv1+O%2F+H%2B+%24+Fo+R%2B%2B%2B+Ac%2B%2B+J%2B+S%2B+I-%23+V%2B%2B+Q%2B%2B+Tc%2B%2B%2B%5BC%2B%2B%5D+E%2B
(And this forum is smart enough to catch it all, the Dragon Realms forum (which that invariable links indirectly to) catches only part of it: http://...dcc=DC2.Dw+... )

FTP urls don't parse (probably known, but I figured I'd list it).

Did not hyperlink "correctly":
[1:55] You: http://www.google.com/123456789000-=`/~!@#$%^&*()_+/[[]\;',.?<>:"{}|
Broke after the )
Could be a thumbs up as a side comment (in parens like this) that has a URL in it shouldn't parse the ). Need to find a good URL that uses a paren now. Ok, I cheated and uploaded a (test) folder to my school-provided webspace. FireFox does not parse the ) into a string of other characters (such as a space which is %20), so it is considered a standard usable URL character (unlike the space which is frowned upon). http://www.pages.drexel.edu/~mmj29/(test)/Harvey.jpg (forum did not parse, that was BBC-ed)
Non-English characters (such as ö, ï, è, ô, â, ñ, í, etc.) all parse into URL--though I had to copy/paste from word to get them into the chat bar as SL doesn't support a ctrl+(shift)+(symbol), (character) [i.e. ctrl+shift+; (to get a : ), i to print an ï], does SL have a different key shortcut?

I think I ran out of things to try.

[20:26] You: http:\\www.google.com
That's not a URL. "\" has no meaning in URLs. Internet Explorer erroneously treats it as a "/", and this has been used in a number of exploits used to inject spyware or perform cross-zone attacks. I'm glad Linden Labs is not duplicating that mistake.

[20:27] You: www.google.com
That's equivalent to the first, really. It would be nice, on teh other hand, if they accepted <www.google.com> as a URL. This is an early "smart markup" standard for tagging hyperlinks in text that's very convenient and (even with vectors) unambiguous.

That might actually be a good idea. Have a sandbox cloned, and divide it up into small 25m parcels, then set them all for sale for 0, so people can mess with it. Not sure how the price could be locked at 0 though, that would have to be done.

How about file:///c| ?
That's potentially one they should not activate, although it's not really a risk either.

No they are not messing with LODs. They are messing with how things udate on the client side. see my other posts at the top of this Forum. Looks to me they are trying to reduce the work load on the client.
