Running 1.6.0(0) always hangs at "Connecting to Region". I've sent crash reports, deleted the entire ADITI directory and reinstalled and cleared cache.
Configuration:
XP - current updates
Dell Latitude 810
1.2 GB
ATI Mobility Radeon X300 64MB current driver
This system runs production SL perfectly.

Yeah 1.6 is prone to doing that these days  I'm assuming you mean 1.16  Anyways, if this is your first time connecting to the beta grid since it was re-opened then it often takes a while as it will first try to connect to your last location on the main grid, however, unless your last location was one of the sims that were copied to create the beta grid then this will not be possible (as only a small portion of the main grid is used for the beta). How long have you been leaving it? It shouldn't more than a few minutes to realise the simulator can't be accessed and to place you at a different location.

I've left it for at least 5 minutes, probably closer to 10.
What's the name of a region in the test grid? I can just force that as a start position.

Well it actually routed me to Fame. However......
The world is extremely dark, I have no clothes - message box shows Still Downloading Clothing...., the lag is absurd - minutes between updates, so much so that XP shows a Program is not Responding message. Actually though, it is running, there are VERY laggy movements of my AV - maybe 2 minutes delay or so. This is all after waiting over 10 minutes to start.
Before starting this, I cleared cache and set the start position to Lusk, then did the same for Fame, same results.
I can run prod SL fine.
