except for occaisions of tooth colisions due to my poor design of teeth shape and spacing i did never the less get two full revolutions of a physical gear that was pushed by a driving gear(which was scripted to turn)

also i made a pendulum which swang back and forth 3 times before ejecting itself from its bearings.

conclusion? h4 is here :)

Thats the most intriguing thing Ive heard so far regarding this latest beta. A physical machine test! Very kool.

You have inspired me. I popped into the beta grid the other day with a friend and messed around for a bit. I put together a simple gear mechanism and just turned it "by hand" (ok, by walking into the teeth). I was amazed at how smoothly the gears worked on my first attempt. Here you can see a video of my gears:

I am finding that they are very sensitive to size and distance. I don't know how Havok works really, but there is apparently some collision distance around objects where things go crazy if you make them too tight (apparently, the objects are "colliding" even when they are just rather close). Trying to make the gears fit tightly on the axle tends to just make them collide in an out of control fashion and go flying apart. Anyone know of some pointers to how to avoid such explosions? I just made the whole thing big and left room for some slop.

Were the gears as much fun as land surfing?
