heyas;

okay, this is cool, it will allow localized implementations of beta stuff, give it more 'live' testing before releasing it on the masses. viewer upgrades will all be optional forevermore. that sort of thing.
and, apparently, the beta grid will be closed.

well, i dont know about you guys, but i use the beta grid to test uploads. you know, is this animation at the right level to be on the ground with certain avatars? does it need to be raised, lowered.... adjusted for bulkier avatars? you can't really see what you're doing with animating the standard figures in qavimator or poser. so it's a lot of guesswork.
i also test textures. is my alpha texture going to have a white halo? does it clip off the end of the side of the cube? is my text readable at 128x or should i make it 256x? the other day i was trying to design a one-piece swimsuit for my ferret. finding where to paint the arm and leg holes onto a sphere was a lot of guesswork. took about six or seven versions to get it right.

and yeah, i like the freedom to test and retest and tweak the heck out of things without really blowing 10 ells an upload.
PLUS, what about the server space, which is really what i'm paying for? all those test uploads are junk. they'll never be used. should they be stored on the sl servers? that's just a waste of resources.

anybody else worried?

The beta grid isn't going anywhere :)

The beta grids will still be around. Het-Grid is merely an add-on, not a replacement. Sorry for the confusion! :o

Unreferenced assets get garbage collected after a while (when that process goes wrong you end up with "Missing from Database";).
