I'm wondering if Havoc 4 aids in being able for an avatar to get in a place like the deck of a moving ship and be able to get moved along with the ship instead of falling off.

I think she means simulated friction, where an AV standing on top of a moving object, would move along with it. I don't know as I've not tried the beta yet, but the Lindens did say they aren't adding anything new yet. So my money is on no, at least for the time being.

I just finished testing this. i made a big boat hull shape from a hollowed half sphere, I wrote a little script that uses llMoveToTarget.

In havok 1, here's what happens...when the hull moves, the av stumbles around a lot. if the boat moves faster than about 10m/s, the av falls out of the boat.

In havok 4, when the hull moves, the av barely shuffles its feet. It also turns to face the way the hull is moving. When the hull stops, it turns back to its original rotation. Even at 25 m/s, the av has no trouble staying in the boat.

Then, for laughs, I turned the hull over, so the av is on the convex side. Still worked pretty good.

Folks, I think we have real surf boards and trolley cars now 8-) 8-)

That sounds promising! How have things like elevators been affected? If you are in a large one can you walk around for example?

OK. I just did the basic elevator test. Going down, the legs freak out. Going up, the camera freaks out.

I was able to walk around on a large elevator, however.

Up to 20 m/s.

When I tested this I got about the same results as Lee - one thing I never liked with Havok 1 is if you were standing up below deck on my airship, and it started to move (even slowly), the avatar would move their feet as though walking - this appears fixed and your avatar does still move and get shuffled around a bit at even low speeds (but doesn't run the walk animation).

It would be so neat if we could ride in a vehicle and walk around. We could have cruise ships where we could do stuff onboard while watching the SLandscape go by.
