Not sure if posted here yet. Report bug took it as a new bug. In region with Abbot's opened mini-map with someone in close proximity. 70% of mini map was a bright cyan, two bldgs of about 5% were hot pink and the rest was normal readable terrain. Map was unusable like this, I could see the circle marking my location but could not see a green dot on mini map.

It sounds like something I reported on a previous version. Turns out that that is what it is supposed to look like when you are in God mode.

This is how my minimap looks in my home sim where i work "Serenity Woods". It used to be even worse when i worked in "The Forest", cuz i owned about 80% of the sims contents since the older officers were kicked i inherited some of their contents. The Forest was almost totally cyan to me back then. Serenity Woods is a little less cluttered to me but it's still unviewable.

The only solutions i can think of is to either use darker colors for the objects, or put a thick black background around resident indicators. Yes the round icons for residents have one but the T's don't. You see that green T thats north west of my location? You have to really glance at it don't you? The new Pink color for group owned stuff doesn't help the issue either.

AH! You were right Suzanne. I had forgotten I was playing in Hacked God Mode at the time.

The question remains: What is the purpose of these changed colors? Are they providing more information than the normal display? If so why not make this info available as a regular mode option, with a better color scheme?

Those colors prebably show you individually-owned and group-owned objects, just like they do on your own land...

From another thread, some notes I've taken down but haven't gotten around to implementing yet... sorry, I don't have the original attributions...

From: various people
Since no one replied with an answer, I did a bit of digging this
morning. In the folder where you installed SL, there is a folder
called 'app_settings'. In that folder is a file called 'colors.ini'.
Open that sucker up and in the comments are the instructions for
making your own colours. I added these lines:

NetMapYouOwnAboveWater 255 128 0 255
NetMapYouOwnBelowWater 192 96 0 255

making my items show as orange, a bit easier to see the green dots
or T's on the map now at a glance.

For the Mac people out there, this works as well, but its a bit
different to find the colors.ini file since macs use a single
'pakcage' .app file and not an install with a bunch of subdirectories.

Oh, and since they're moving toward .xml configuration files, it'd
probably be better to put this in colors.xml in between the <settings>
tags:

<NetMapYouOwnAboveWater value="255, 128, 0, 255"/>
<NetMapYouOwnBelowWater value="192, 96, 0, 255"/>

hmmmmm don't know and don't understand the purpose of the "Hacked God Mode" being in the preview. I personally spent the money and have the God Mode Hack. It actually does not do very much anymore with many functions disabled now. I had originally bought it because I was being stalked and it put a stop to that and fast. Since then I have used one part of it ALL the time. It allows you to disable camera constraints. I can move my camera out as far as what my graphics preferencs are set at. Most of the time at around 256 meters. It is unbelievably handy for building.

I have heard rumors that LL was thinking of allowing evryone to have that feature. Maybe that is what is being tested? On your UI do you have the option to "disable camera constraints" or does the Hacked God Mode do this?

I will log back into preview with my God Mode Hack disabled and see the difference.

It's not just in the preview, it's on the main grid. They replaced "Debug" with "God Mode" in 1.12 because... I suspect... with the hacked version out there wasn't any point in duplicating the same code in two places (debug and god mode).

True true, also i feel i must supply a answer. :) Linden Labs has always had the god menu, but it was recently hacked and exposed to the public. The public liked the features it supplied. The hack used was made from libsecondlife which Linden Lab praised. As time went by the public begged linden lab to make these features legit. Eventually they did it. :)
