That amount of memory being used is entirely too excessive.

Oh, you mean you haven't been bumping the 1.2GB+ mark within minutes yet?

I hit that on a regular basis, everything will be ok, with the client running around 300-400MB used, then all of a sudden it'll jump to using 1.2GB+ and SL gets really cranky at that point and either I have to relog or I am relogged by force (crashed out).

I think the memory link is in the embedded Mozilla use. It's a known issue in Jira.

Yet again, another reason why I use Opera.

Firefox is open source and can be built into and distributed with the Second Life application. Opera can't.

This is Mozilla's bug, and as per the town hall, once it gets fixed by Mozilla, then SL will reroll.

I'm pretty not, unless there is a setting in the Debug menus I'm not familiar with.

These are the only available command line switches.

I had 512MB, upgraded my 4 YEAR OLD PC to 1.5MB, no problems. Suggest to do the same!

I hit 1GB within seconds of logging in, my G15 reports 98% Memory used. Ridiculous no? and I'm running 1.5GB. SL uses as much as there is available.

I've had 1GB of RAM for like a year, and SL never used more than half of it up until a month or two ago, and now it shoots up to 98% usage if I stand still. Oddly enough, moving around actually gets it to drop a little.

Of course I have plenty of stuff running on my second monitor at all times anyway, but still (need another gig, I know) :B

The more memory you have the more it the UI eats.

Could you tell me how I'd jump to 1.2GB+ of ram used on the SL client if I had anything less to be used?

I have 2GB....
