“City versus country, urban or rural – which offers a superior way of life? It’s a time-honored debate, perhaps best explored by Eddie Albert and Eva Gabor in their classic duet “Green Acres”. The Chores – the Stores! Fresh Air –- Times Square! Indeed.
Really, both city life and pastoral retreat have their merits. In Second Life, however, we’ve never really had the option to choose. The elements of the countryside --trees, rivers, hills, coast—are plentiful. Cities –real cities—well, that’s another matter entirely.
Governor Linden has decreed that a fine new city should rise in the west, and we’re dedicating four sims to the cause. Building a dense urban environment requires prims – lots of prims— so only half of the city will be sold and plots will boast a double allotment. To jump-start the urban planning
process, the new city will come pre-equipped with the infrastructure of a metropolis– streets, sidewalks, alleys, bridges, canals, public transit, and boulevards will all be provided.
The final element needed to breathe life into the city is you: the developers, shopkeepers, club owners, apartment dwellers, consumers, architects, theatre goers, and industrialists who will choose to make a home in the city. The city will boast both Mature-rated and PG-rated areas. The first plots in the city will be put to auction before the end of the month.
Anyone can tell you that the mantra of property values is Location, Location, Location. These city plots will be a location like no other in Second Life, and they are sure to be incredibly popular. Don't miss out on this opportunity to join the urban elite!"
