Hipihi has a preliminary test version of a partly English interface.
You need to download the latest version. The Hipihi folks don't do version numbers quite the same way that LL does, so the file name of the installation file won't appear to have changed; it's still 30014 SP2.
Once you get it downloaded there's a text file you have to edit. You have to change a value from 0 or -1 to 1. No big deal for the computer literate.
The buttons at the bottom of the screen are in English. The prim editor dialog has english labels on the tabs and parameter setting fields.
Those who have successfully installed Hipihi previously but couldn't quite deal with the Chinese interface might find this is a good time to try it again.
I have not seen anything yet on whether the installation process is any simpler with regard to the need to install the East Asian language pack and get the region and language and locale settings correct. Something tells me there has been no change in that regard.
This is just a preliminary version of the English interface beta, it's not the final English version beta, therefore, one should not expect the entire interface to be in English, or that the text fits in the buttons properly, or that all the translations are correct.
It's great to see this progress!
Note: when I say don't expect that the English is correct, I'm not speaking theoretically, I'm seeing not simply poor choices of wording but seemingly mislabled labels. This stuff will be getting fixed.
From the point of view of someone that wants to try building in Hipihi for the fun and novelty of it, who only speaks English, incorrect labels that you can recognize and pronounce are a great improvement over symbols you can't pronounce, or with my eyes, can't even distinguish one from the other.
