Hipihi servers are down at the moment as part of an upgrade. The upgrade has some big changes. I hope it goes smoothly. I haven't seen these changes in action yet. I suggest this would be a good time for virtual world enthusiasts to apply for the Hipihi test. This list was in a post by Hipihi volunteer warmice in the Overseas Zones section of the Hipihi forums, the part for us Chinese-language-challenged Hipihi users. From: someone 1. Avatar attach points 2. Land editing rights control (now supports co-building) 3. Community chat 4. New naming system (now supports your native language) 5. Speed-tree 6. New reference-lines in object editing mode(F7: lock/unlock reference lines, F8  pen/close reference lines and adjust line density) 7. Primary scripting on the client side, e.g. land management, access right, hotkey is F4. scripting language is Lua, we will release a help file soon. 8. Vote function 9. Enhanced avatar customization , finer modeling and more adjustable parameters 10. Optimized avatar collision physics(supports movement on a slanted surface) 11. script editing window 12. Faster model and texture map loading This is a pretty notable set of changes, so if you've been in Hipihi but not been there for a while you might want to try it again. A new installation file download is required. I don't know the language difficulties many had have been reduced any so if you weren't able to get Hipihi running previously due to the language barrier, don't be thinking it's going to be a breezy installation now.

You get some free land during the test period. There's been free land to build on for months now.
They actually shut the system down for two days for this upgrade. It doesn't seem to be back up yet this morning. Think of what would happen if LL shut SL down two days! The world would come to an end!
Avatar attachments will be good, it will neat to see the scripting language in development. Being able to build together will be good.
I hope they make the sun stop pulsating on my computer.
