Self Appointed Forum Mods

If reading the rules the forum owners created and asked us to abide by and have had on display for years for years and trying to follow them, and grasping that the forums have a purpose, which is not to serve as a party-time chat room for people's enjoyment, but is instead to help people use the Second Life environment simulation, and mentioning these rules and their purpose to people is being a "self appointed forum moderator" then what is when you say "I don't need to concern myself at all with the rules the people that pay for the forums wrote and that I agreed to abide by, I can say anything at all that I feel like in complete disregard for any rules I might have agreed to, but I also get to determine what other people say here in this forum that I don't own."?

Obviously a large number of Linden Lab's customer base want to also use the forums as a "party-time chat room for people's enjoyment". F1 should provide alot help anyway.


We paying customers foot the bill for the forums. That is why only peoplewith payment information on file can access them. And we are mandated to agree to any policy change LL prints or we have no access to teh grid or the forums.

Every huge group of people need hall monitors - but over-zealous corporate lovers never get the respect they feel they should get.

SuezanneC - I honestly think you need to sacrifice your own forum if you want to be taken seriously with complaints like this. What is that but a place for you to ignore rules, and talk about whatever the F you like? It doesn't appear to serve an actual group of people with an interest in the subject (ie. *you*), let alone deal with a Second Life product or interest -- indeed, you have even used it to provide support for competing virtual platforms. All things considering, it seems very hypocritical of you to lecture people on what they should and should not talk about, regardless of the foolish system that allowed the creation of such an ego-centric group forum in the first place.

I can see far more reason for a group forum for the Forum Cartel (for example), than just another resident who is no different to the rest of us. I'm not even in the Forum Cartel group so there is no self-interest behind that comment, but hell, at least that group (unlike yours) has an obvious interest in both Second Life *and* the official forums.

I recall you touching on this subject before just a few weeks ago, comparing the forums to a cellphone store.

Well fine, but unfortunately your analogy falls flat because you (a customer no better, no worse, no more or less special than any other) not only have your own desk in that cellphone store, but you even use it to promote other cellphone stores. (HiPiHi and the like.) Which cellphone store in the universe exactly provides such a facility?
