I have a box on my head! Now if I can figure out how to detach it. Hipihi login servers are back up and I have attached a box to my Hipihi head. The Hipihi speedtrees are swaying in the breeze. This suggests a haiku: From: someone Login server's up
I have a box on my head
Speedtrees are swaying. ================================ Hiphi now has texture importing for objects, clothes, and avatar skins, avatar attachments, and customizable animations using poser. Not just that, but notably those things.

How does the textures work there? Could you upload a skin (3 files, head, mid section and legs) from SL and have it work?

I don't think the skins are directly transferable from Second Life to Hipihi. It's a shame in a way.
The skin files look much the same to me - to me, they look nearly identical, but I'm not a skin maker.
The Hipihi hair mesh is quite notably different from SL's.
Maybe some SL skinmakers could investigate.
2K Susei should sign up and build something. 2K should also sign up with Novoking.
I did try an SL BVH file I had around in Hipihi, and not surprisingly, it didn't work in Hipihi.
The knowledge used to make the skins and animation will be largely transferable, though.
It is suppose to be possible to display a Flash animation on an object. I haven't tried that yet.
Hipihi is supposed to have the start of a scripting language now, with this new version. I haven't had a chance to find out anything about that yet other than reading the release notes.

Hipihi gives its users the finger
01-21-2008 17:29
The Hipihi company has given its users the finger. To be more accurate, it’s given each of them ten fingers. The fingers the users have received are attachment points, parts of the avatar body to which a virtual world object can be attached, or in Hipihi-English parlance, mounted. The Hipihi company has not only given it’s users ten fingers, it’s also given them upper arms, elbows, forearms, wrists, and hands, and a bunch more attachment points on other body parts. Hipihi now has the capacity for user created textures for objects like houses and furniture, user created textures for clothing, user created objects made from parametric prims, user modifiable pre-made objects, and user created custom animations. The custom textured, custom made objects can be attached to the avatars to create object-style costume pieces for humanoid avatars, like helmets and armor, or to create robots, animals, cartoon characters, etc. With each finger having one attachment point, I bet users won’t take too long to start asking for separate attachment points for each joint. That’s just the way users are, eh? Here I am with a few objects attached to upper arm, forearm, and skull.

Here's one someone else made: A rabbit with a toilet plunger. Maybe it's going to clean out a forum, who knows?

Do they have an English version, yet? One of your screen shots makes it look that way.

There is a PARTIALLY translated into English interface.
There are many important parts of the interface that are still in Chinese.
One might be able to expedite their translation progress by registering and then posting in the forums asking for more fully translated versions.
There is some English help information; unfortunately it is dated now.
It's tough to write documentation for a rapidly changing program still in testing, and tougher still to translate that documentation.
