I just saw a story by Tateru Nino at massively.com about an exploit in the virtualization software used on some of the servers that some OpenSim regions operate on that allow hundreds of OpenSim regions to be wiped out over the weekend. This virtualization software is used to house many other normal websites, and there were many sites unrelated to OpenSim also affected. http://www.massively.com/2009/06/10/over-100-opensim-regions-wiped-in-weekend-exploit/

And the CEO of LxLabs hanged himself over it. No, I'm not making this up. http://www.theregister.co.uk/2009/06/09/lxlabs_funder_death/#Edit: oh, they did note that at the end of the story. Just saying, though, keep a sense of proportion here. There's real tragedy behind the virtual one.

I left the suicide part out for the same reasons one doesn't reveal the ending of a movie.
The Google News headlines earlier today caught my attention and depressed me more than usual. Shootings in the Holocaust museum, truck bombers, etc.
Some days it doesn't pay to look at the news. This was one of them of them for me.
