I've installed the Hipihi beta, and upon displaying the initial loading screen, Hipihi promptly crashes.
The Hiphi forums appear to consist solely of Chinese posts, and I speak only English. I think my system meets the system requirements. I'm asking here in hopes that someone else might be in the Hipihi beta and able to speak both Chinese, English, and Computereseglish.  That's as far as I got. _____________________

I posted my problem in a blog comment on a not-run-by-Hipihi blog site and received a response from the Hipihi service department.
That was a pleasant surprise. We'll see what comes from it, I've sent them my system specs as requested. _____________________

I've been told that my computer is adequate for running Hipihi, which I expected it would be, and that I need to install the East Asian or other Chinese language pack, but I believe the East Asian language pack is already installed. So no luck so far at getting Hipihi to run.

WTF is with those hipihi guys. Can't they do anything right? They should be fixing the alpha version before bringing out the beta, and what's with using Chinese? They should be using MySQL, anybody knows that.

Some progress, need more

I've made some progress in getting Hiphi to run.
By making some selections in the Control Panel Regional and Language Settings dialogs, I've made it past the initial screen display and on to the Login screen. I can enter my Hipihi user name, which displays in English characters, but when I move on to the password field, nothing happens when I press keys. No new characters appear. The cursor doesn't move. Any help would be greatly appreciated. _____________________
