The Hipihi company has made a translation of the Hipihi interface available as an attachment in the Chinese language forums at their site, announced in a thread written in Chinese, in the form of a RAR compressed PDF file. To make it easier to see this information I have put an uncompressed copy of this file in my Hipihi Google Group's file area. You can download this pdf file directly at http://groups.google.com/group/hipihi-group/web/HiPiHi+World+Interface+English+Translation(2007.7.6).pdf . The url for the Hipihi Google group itself is http://groups.google.com/group/hipihi-group .

Now if I could just get an English client... I'd be there!!! Hipihi looks pretty interesting indeed, and I'd love to give it a try.
Although.... Strange that they have gender, nationality, and birthdate fields in the profiles O.o, I don't think I'd have any interest in providing real info there.

Hipihi is currently in beta. Maintaining multiple language versions for something that changes as frequently as it does, while the code is still shifting like the sands, is not real practical. It is possible to run the Chinese version on English language Windows XP by installing the East Asia language pack, then going to the Control Panel / Regional and Language settings, and setting the language options there to the following: Also, once Hipihi is installed, edit the Hipihi shortcut's properties, on the compatibilty tab, and turn OFF the advanced text services. There are two Hipihi groups in SL, "Hipihi" and "Hipihi - Third Life", that may be able to help with installation and setup of Hipihi. One of the groups, I don't recall which one, helped me. Hipihi's web site is at www.hipihi.com. There's a link to some info in English on that page. The Chinese interface English translation mentioned here can be found currently in the Chinese language forums on that site, in additon to the link to a copy in the Hipihi group at Google Groups. This translation file will be annouced on the company web site on Monday. Everyone interested in trying Hipihi once an English version is available might want to send an email to expressing your interest to Cindy Jiang at the following email address: cindy "DOT" jiang "AT" hipihi "DOT" com, to help them guage the level of interest and hopefully persuade them to expedite the delivery of an English langauge version and prior to that to provide an English translation of the Hipihi help file, which is Chinese language pdf file that comes with the program files. I will be putting a copy of the Hipihi interface English translation file as an editable word document or documents in my Google Docs space and in the Hipihi wiki at http://hipihi.wiki.zoho.com . This, by the way, is the time to start prodding the Hipihi company to open source the Hipihi viewer. Open sourcing the SL viewer has brought numerous bug fixes to SL users. It would be a shame for the Hipihi to waste years of developer time and subject their users to needless frustration before figuring out the wisdom of open sourcing the viewer code.
