What does it take to live life as a Jedi?

In Second Life as well as in your First Life, it's not always the easiest thing to do. How can we fill our roles as peacekeepers and defenders? What helps us to be what we should be?

My take? Internalize the Jedi Code by memorizing it and saying over and over...every time you come against an obstacle of any kind, say the code:

There is no emotion; there is peace.
There is no ignorance; there is knowledge.
There is no passion; there is serenity.
There is no chaos; there is harmony.
There is no death; there is the Force.

Once memorizing it, you are able to call up any line of the code to use it in your daily life. People may deride or make fun of you but they should know that there is nothing wrong with peace, knowledge, serenity and harmony. They should be able to give you that much. At least the first four lines. Try the first four lines to begin with. The last line applies best when we realize that there is no death. We pass from one state to another...to become one with the Force again.

interesting food for thought...living it in your first life as well. I agree, that if you subscribe to that philosophy, it could benefit you greatly in first life. I'm a passionate person (hence my being of the Sith Legends) in real life. If you've ever heard me talk about graphic design you'll see my passion...it drives me

i think one way or another, we add a lot of our own real life personalities in second life. No one lives a COMPLETELY different life in SL...

Now that I think about it...i suppose that if i were to be classified by my real life personality, I would be sith... passion drives me, and I thrive on conflict. When all is peaceful and nothing is going on, I lose my momentum. I have this problem often when I am unemployed, ill sit at home and do NOTHING. yet...when I worked 60 hours a week at countrywide, i was always complaing about not having enough hours in the day because i'm always doing so much.

aside from that whole being evil and killing people thing, the philosophies of passion and chaos do fit me quite well. interesting.

The Life of a Jedi

"A jedi cannot live by the code alone..." That is something Master Jinn once told me. There is far more to life then the code, it is an important guide, but it is important to know when to step beyond it.

Another truth. Seems to me that applying the code wherever possible is very important but more important might be knowing the will of the Force in all things. Hence, the need for at least daily meditation to achieve that knowledge of the Force as well as knowing how to apply the code.

Indeed meditation is a necessary vessel for the contemplation of the Force, but it may not be as revealing about the will of the Force as you have put it. One of the many theories behind the living Force is its 'gray' quality towards an active will. One could say that the Force is largely a maleable clay that is shaped by the will and temperance (or passion and ambition) of those close to it. It is shaped directly by those that 'wield' it, but given its overall aspect by all living things in the universe. I prattle on though...

On a separate note, consider that the Force does not exist in all places in the universe. Some have theorized that there are vast expanses devoid of any hint of the Force. I can vouch, at least partially for the validity of this theory, as I have personally witnessed such a thing... it tears at the very spirit and drains the life from your body. It is not something I ever wish to find again.
