I tried disabling the interface with control-alt-F1, but still the "magnifying lens" shows
when I zoom in and pan....Is there any way of hiding it at all?

if the interface is disabled, you shouldn't see even that. Are you sure you actually turned off the interface?

On windows if you use camstudio - http://camstudio.org - to capture or on a Mac if you use iShowU and SnapzPro you have the option of hiding the cursor.
Otherwise, you just have to either, cut out the times when you get the cursor in the shot or use the flycam and hide the cursor in the very corner. _____________________
