Help With Uploading Video

I'm sure I'm doing something pretty simple wrong...Want to Upload my own movie onto a 'screen' on my land. Film is in quicktime. Is their a free hosing service that will work?...I've tried a few but every time I upload my file and get a link to it, the link doesn't work in SL (ie I get a black screen) Any help would be much appriciated.

yes I have the same problem . I'm told that it's loading but the file is only 2 megs long and it's taking over 30 minutes and it's still blank

Try using blip.tv to host your video. They're great, free, provide rss feeds, auto post to your blog and more.

Well, it's a bit trail and error.

You really need a host server than can provide 'progressive download', this will almost start the movie 'stream' very quickly as the host downloads the begining with a burst to begin filling the viewers cache. The download must then continue downloading ahead of the frames being watch, otherwise it will stall.

Forget about trying to 'Stream' movies via RTSP Protocols, your client will be unable to keep pace when you are running SL. You can format your movies in MP4, but in my experience, the sudden rush of data, stalls SL for a few seconds. Find yourself a good hosting service, thats realiable and consistent. As you are getting a Black screen, this can mean one of two things:-
1) The stream is activated but very/to slow a delivery to show.
2) You have the wrong URL (always use the full url i.e. http://www.<yourdomain>/<yourmovie>.mov

I have assumed you are using the same texture on the land/parcel media tab and on your screen?
