I'm a complete newbie -- so your patience and help is appreciated --
I can't tell whether it's possible to integrate an externally produced video (e.g. Quicktime) into SL -- i.e., for instance, have a movie theatre or billboard showing a movie in SL
If so, can you point me to info about how to do it? I searched the Knowledge Base, but came up empty
Thanks

You need access to land for it. The settings are under "Media" if you bring up "About Land" (right-click on the ground > about land). It works the same for movies as music, except you need to pick a texture to be replaced by the video. http://secondlife.com/knowledgebase/category.php?id=29

Yes it is, there has been several movies shown in SL. We recently showed our documentary, you will need your own server.

Hi,
Take a peek at our showrooms and theatre, open to the public, we have many streams running there, all movies shown are all made ingame and streamed through our own hosted servers.
Find WBA Advertising in search, in-game.
Our Sister company EML Entertainments sell media players making setting up of multiple streams easier and more controllable (note: you must have permission to deed the receiver to land that you either own, have permissions by group owned land, or a good friend). We also showcase our new Multi Movie per parcel system (this does not use the stacked QuickTime mov format), developed in association with Metaverse.
