If fixed cam position possible?

I have an Idea I once saw that one could set a fixed camera position where one can look down and watch oneself move around. It might have been on one of Torley's videos. Is this camera function possible or is my memory wrong? If it is possible, what are the commands?

it is possible, called "follow cam", wich sets many parameters for a scripted camera for smoother following of vehicles or for a higher 3rd person cam for larger avatars.
requires "permission control cammera".
This can also set the camera to a fixed position.
The general camera-clipping problem in sl only gets worse with this method or requires lots of workround code.

torley may still give its free follow cam somewhere.

If you are looking to fix a camera while you walk about without the camera following you, use FlyCam in the advanced menu, although you will need some method of controlling it, like a joystick, gamepad etc.. its quite disorientating at first not seeing your camera move when you do, but with practise, possible. I did manage once to control the camera with a Gamepad whilst walking about using the cursor keys, it wasnt a pretty sight .

Alternatively, use the -multipe switch command in the SL desktop icon properties, and login an alt account and use that viewer to film the movements of your other account. You will need to set the account that is doing the moving to low graphics settings, no voice or media, unless you have a powerful system.

Flix, has made some good camera tools for his machinima that can do some cool stuff with your camera, as does Genus (he made Filming Path) which controls the views of the camera movements in a set scene.
