Thought I'd post an experiment I did - captured with Fraps in-world. Would this be considered machinema? There are no people in it... just moving prims. youtube.com made a grainy mess of the video, lots of detail is lost... but you'll get the general idea. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wx4djMDiP0w

Machinima is 3D realtime film making. Cool object and overall mood.

Nice work Susan, is that the same model you had at SL3B? Looks like it could be the opening sequence to a Bond film.

Yeah it's just a shot of the morphing sculpture from the inside, but in a special super secret prim rotation mode It's secret because llTargetOmega has been borked for ages so I haven't put the feature on the sculpture menu... so I'm dying to see if the problems are fixed in this next update with the llTargetOmega fixes. Speaking of which, I should go test on the beta grid. Ooo! Off I go.

More Movies?
12-10-2006 14:24
Its me,
I am impressed by the quality of the movies shared off forum, none of which are QuickTime, which is a shame as they cannot be shown/showcased in SL in Flash Format.
I use the QuickTime - Darwin Streaming Server Protocols for my SL movies, even targeted at 15fps and no more than 115kbps, I get excellent results. That is until SL throws a tantrum and drops to below 5fsp and packet loss begins, then the stream in interfered with and pixelates.
Most Movie streams are targeted at 25-29fps and 500k to comply with the PAL/NTSC formats. Ours do not because we don't use these fixed formats and make our own screens to match the movie resolution/format/aspect ratio.
I wonder if Linden Labs will update their servers to cope with the new Darwin Steaming Protocols? As QuickTime is the 'standard' movie format for SL... they would be foolish not to.
I'm off to fondle the TB's of bandwidth I have on my new server.
