Ok I loaded FRAPS and made a test movie ok scooting around sl in my avi. BUT I can either get microphone sound OR music from game sound but not both. It seems to be either Microphone or Stereo Mix on both FRAPS and Windows XP control panels. SO.. Is there a way to take game sound from sl (coming through QuickTime I think?) and mix it with microphone sound from my laptop and record both simultaneously into the FRAPS file? Appreciate any counsel or leads Thanks! Sitearm

The "Stereo Mix" input will record literally what your PC is otherwise outputting...
Trick: In the Playback mixer, Un-mute and fade up the Microphone line - that way you're hearing the Mic's signal out through the speakers and your Stereo Mix should capture it along with the SL noise. (You should use headphones in order to prevent possible squeely feedback noises and the like.)
You may have to go in to the Properties bit to have it display the Microphone slider in the Playback view. If you're exceptionally unlucky, your PC's sound card/chip won't permit you to local-echo it in this manner (or it might for some reason not have the same "Stereo Mix will record it" behaviour that mine does)

Hi all! I created some FRAPS .avis on my PC for a friend making an SL movie in Mac. He has this question:
"I'm having problems dealing with the .avi's on my Mac where I do my editing. QT doesn't seem to recognize the codec and I tried doing conversions with ffmpeg with no luck.
Any ideas on converting this stuff?"
