I don't know if this was already posted here; I don't think it has from what I can see. Anyway, here is the first episode of the Slip Stream series "The Future is Hear" by Jim Gustafson. I think its a really good first effort and a huge learning experience for me. For me it was a chance to take my RL film & TV experience and adapt it to SL. Mostly I learned a lot about what NOT to do. I like that Jim used a lot of camera angles and editing that is similar to what I'm used to in TV. http://blip.tv/file/835879

Slipstream - feedback and request for advice

Hi - that is simply amazing work! I love the "Twilight Zone" feel and the sheer amount of work that went into it is staggering. Can I please ask some questions? 1) How long did it take to shoot? 2) How long to edit? 3) How many of the animations were custom made? 4) How did you get the moths and faces so animated? Thanks in advance for any help you can give me on these and I hope the next episode is ready soon HBA ****

We have had really great feed back from people which is really wonderful because when you are close to a project, you loose all sight of it. The person who can answer all of your questions better than I is Jim Gustafson. And the series is his baby. He did the editing and camera work. Last I heard Jim is willing to take on apprentices as part of his future Machinima school. I know he is working on a project at the moment and may be somewhat busy so approach with some regard of this as he may not get back to you right away or need to wait until he is finished. I think it took about 2 months; we started it right after the 48 hr film contest in Jan. My skill set is organizing the project. Once someone approaches me with a script or idea, I gather together people I think will suit the project best and then make sure the shoot happens. I organize it the same way as a RL film shoot. My goal is to hopefully train people on how to set up production so they can do it in the future on their own projects. I also fund projects to a certain extent as an extension of my RL film company. For this project, Jim had the script and the idea for the series and I oversaw the production side until right up to the end when RL concerns rose to a fever pitch that could no longer be ignored. I am really happy that the crew continued successfully to the finish and did a great job. Challenges ahead for me in my future projects are sound quality to match visual quality and to work in HD.

From: Dnali Anabuki Oh that is great to hear. We have had really great feed back from people which is really wonderful because when you are close to a project, you loose all sight of it. Is there an official forum or discussion site for this? I haven’t seen anything about it on these forums (although I am quite new to them and could have missed it). From: Dnali Anabuki The person who can answer all of your questions better than I is Jim Gustafson. And the series is his baby. He did the editing and camera work. Last I heard Jim is willing to take on apprentices as part of his future Machinima school. I know he is working on a project at the moment and may be somewhat busy so approach with some regard of this as he may not get back to you right away or need to wait until he is finished. Thanks for the heads-up. I’ll send him a notecard From: Dnali Anabuki I think it took about 2 months; we started it right after the 48 hr film contest in Jan. Two months! Blimey! That’s a lot of dedication from a lot of folks. And thanks for sending me off to the 48 Film Project – I’d never heard of that and I’m now glued to it! From: Dnali Anabuki My goal is to hopefully train people on how to set up production so they can do it in the future on their own projects. Is this a voluntary training thing, or more formal? From: Dnali Anabuki Challenges ahead for me in my future projects are sound quality to match visual quality and to work in HD. I didn’t know you could work in HD in SL – do you need a specialised capture system? Actually, on that topic, how was the footage captured and edited (by which I mean, which software was used)?
