Ho do you make movies in SL?

I have been interested in this for a long time but can't figure it out. I am guessing it isn't inside SL but an outside program right? Anyone point me in the right direction?

Try the free Fraps.com program and if you like it buy it - well worth the money.

I like Hypercam because you can choose just one area of the screen to film; great for closeups.

I think most are choosing 15fps at this point; I tried 30fps uncompressed and I'm eating hard drive space like there is no tomorrow.

Agreed, I love Hypercam, although only a windows product atm...

15fps will get you close to simple media providing there isnt too much movement in the scenes... 25fps is good for PAL formats, 30fps for NSTC.

I personally capture at 30fps at 1600x1200 resolution uncompressed, and yes.. it does require not just big HD's, but fast ones... I use commercial varieties in SATA II raid configurations (around 5tb). It doesn't mean that you need that sort of power to make good movies... the most important thing is the 'eye'.

CamStudio records whatever is on your monitor in however large or small a piece you like.
