Avatar looking directly into the camera?

So I am having some fun making some clips for youtube, and I have a question.

How can I make it so my avatar looks directly into the camera?

I am trying to establish "eye contact" with the viewer...

Seems like there should be a way, but I have no idea how.

My thanks to anyone who can help me.

Well, there's a couple of options.

First, I'd recommend Blip.tv over youtube. Free video hosting, MUCH better quality.

Ok, to the question at hand. You can use the regular alt-camera controls to just focus on your avatar face.

Second, I think Bijocam might do it. I've not used Bijocam but I've heard it does this.

Just use the alt-ctrl-shift zoom controls. Check out http://skribeproductions.blip.tv/file/242816/ where we even managed to get the avie to talk directly to the camera.

Oh, heya, Jennifer. Well, you may be able to fake it using the alt camera, depending on your needs. You could make a prim with an invisible texture (there's a freebie one floating around named like "totallyclear" and probably others), or use a script to make it completely transparent. Then position that prim as necessary, press ctrl-alt-t so you can see the prim again, hold alt (or use the camera controls - alt-1 I think), click on the prim so your avatar's looking at it. Then, pan the camera around to look at your AV, then ctrl-alt-t again to hide the prim again.

At least that's the way I'd know of to do so.

How can we have any kind of real cinema without...

Thanks everyone (Hi Ash!)

I'll give it a go when I have the chance, but cheeze and crackers, it's complicated!

Are we all certain there is no way to simply say" look at the birdie" and my poor avi will look at the camera?

Yes one's own avatar has an annoying habit of trying to avoid eye contact at all costs. They continually turn their heads away as you chase them with the camera, yet other people's avatars are perfectly at ease holding your gaze.
