Moviestorm is a site that features a very
innovative software for making machinima;
more of a realization tool, with the logic
built in for direction, production, story
boarding...no 3D skills are necessary and
the environments look inpressive.

As a follow-up, found this on the above reference Machinima for Dummies blog,
which is kind of neat because the fellow posting this video is more of a
machinimist than a frequenter of SL.

It mostly showcases Windlight, but his techniques offer some lessons and ideas:

Glowbox Designs is Second Life's premiere film equipment and studio gear manufacturer. All of our equipment is very high quality, and is perfect for any Machinimist looking to immerse themselves into their SL character, or flesh out their studio.

I hope I'm not flamed for this--although this is a blatant self promotion, it is also a solid resource for those interested or involved in 'machinima.'

Thank you!

Products available:

*GBD HD Moviecam (shoulder version & tripod version) *pose included
*GBD Sonic Boom SL100-Bigwig *pose included
*GBD 1K Barndoor Light
*Stage Lights (RGB set of three, or single units)
*Movie Clapboard
*Camera Battery Belt

And to show I'm in this to spread the true resource of this post, I advice everyone to swing by my competitor and friends location: Lit Fuse. He has nice work too, and offers several unique items, all of which are high quality.

Cheers.

PS> That screen grab from the movie (shown above) is super nice. Very impressive. I thought that was Second Life at first...but it's a 3rd party app...hmmm, I may have to look into that.

Michael, my only problem with the stuff you sell is that its just props, from what I can tell. My advance apologies if I'm wrong in that. I have gotten a number of people over the past year that have inquired about my own camera systems that don't understand the first thing about how to record video in SL. Being someone that has created camera tools to facilitate the actual process of creating complex camera scenes, I'm not sure that mentioning your props on a thread devoted to pointing people to technique information is entirely helpful. Again, my apologies in advance if I'm wrong.
