All right...I have to admit it. Don't know sh-- about the steps to get SLs default movie capture engine to work. Under FILE there's a START/STOP MOVIES TO DISK option, but that doesn't work. The times I've tried it, I get a dialogue window for the place to save to, but when done, there's nothing there. Also no FRAME RATE option, etc. like all the documentation I've been reading says there is. Yes, I've read Eric's Machinima PDF which says nothing more than that one can use this or that, but no directions. A STEPS doc is needed to help those like me that are trying to get the most out of their SL experience but aren't C++ programmers or graphics gurus.

Thx

Heh I want to make a simple movie of a favourite pose of my partner's and myself and I am totally stumped.

I have downloaded Fraps. Tried clicking on the start stop option under File and well nothing. Even the documentation downloaded gives me no clue or hint on how to make a simple movie step by step.

So can someone please help us dummies?

Well with fraps be sure you go in the movies section tab set your destination to save the movie. And then be sure you have a hot key set should be f9.

Then look under fps the tab be sure you have a corner dotted in the over lay corners. Ok now fraps is started go into second life ou should see a number in the corner thats the frame rate. Hit the hot key f9 film what you are doing hit it again f9 to stop, the number turns red.

Then go to the destination where you saved it check make sure its there and then wala your running with fraps.

And then from there I use windows movie maker. There are tons of tutorials on that.
