Hi all.

I'm new to movie making in Second Life, though I have used other engines.

I just discovered Windlight and it as amazing, so made this little showcase of some of the built in settings:

I watched the version on vimeo as it is 100% better quality to YouCrude..

The movie was beautiful. Well presented, considering the lack of editing and any post production work, extremely well done :) .

There is no doubt that windlight, when used correctly, enhances SL for movie making. With so many settings, you can create some unique looks. What was impressive, was that the movie wasn't overpowered by the settings, it was in unison and added to the movie.

Thanks AWM.

I'm hoping to learn a lot more about SL movie making. I'm doing some work with www.pookymedia.com at the moment to hopefully add some films to the already established Dating Casino and The 2nd Question live machinima

Is this forum the best place to share and learn?

Hey, I see you've just posted Battlefield Dune. I'll be checking that out when I get home from work. I've heard it's worth watching ;)

Hi,
Yes this is one of the closest forums to sl for machinima. Although, many of the talented contributors, have put up their own websites/blogs with a raft of very useful information.

If you post a question, its always valuable to give some basic information to go with. Some ask things like 'whats the best screen capture programme' and after a long list of replies, they suddenly state they are using Linux or something.

If you see any effects on our movies, please ask, and I'll do my best to explain how I did it. I use Sony Vegas Pro, but I'm sure other programmes have equivilant effects.

Cheers, I use Vegas as well, after trying a few others.

I've done a fair bit of machinima in other communities. So if this is a a good place to be for SL, hopefully I'll be able to answer as well as ask!

I know what you mean about lots of different blogs and websites, and visit quite a few of them regularly.

Very nice, Rosco. Good use of Windlight for the kinds of atmosphere it can provide.

Also: I'm among the fans William Blake. =)

Thanks Infrared. I actually didn't know the poem well until making this, and was just wanting to do something with Windlight, when Pooky Amsterdam suggested it at the time and was willing to read.

There sure is potential for using SL and Films to bring poetry alive. I came across this excellent examples and even though I can't speak German, the video is inspiring:
