WHAT IS HAPPENING?
Moebius Overdrive, Allen Kerensky, and Squeebee Wakawaka invite you to the Mad Science Film Festival 2008, held at Squeebee's MST3K Theater in the SecondLife virtual world. This festival has several events. The first, on Oct. 24th, showcases "so bad they are good" machinima, created within SecondLife itself, during years past. After the movies, we announce the theme of this year's contest to make your own "so bad its good" film within SecondLife. The final event, on Oct. 30, screens this years entries and concludes with the award ceremony!

October 24th 8 PM SLT : Machinima Film Showing and Contest Kickoff
October 24th, Midnight SLT: Contest theme(s) announced.
October 24th-26th: Get your entry kit and make a video and enter it into the contest!
October 26th, Midnight SLT: Upload your creation for entry and judging.
October 30th 8 PM SLT: Contest entries will be shown in a film festival at Squeebee's within SecondLife.

Consider the times of the contest, to what is now, around 60+% of the SL community.. Europeans... 8-9 hours ahead of SL time.

Go to the Mad Science Film Festival kiosk, in front of Squeebee's, and get an entry kit!

Last night, at Squeebee's MST3K Theater in SL, we kickoff a contest to make your own "so bad its good" machinima in SecondLife, within 48 hours!

October 24th-26th: You make a machinima movie film and enter it into the contest! Ahh, the fun you will be having!

Machinima video entry must:

* use the title from one of the Mad Science Film Festival movie posters available from the contest kiosk entry kit.

Titles to choose from:

- "Pancake House of Horror"
- "Chicken Fried Alive"
- "The Day The Grid Stood Still"
- "Zombie Apocalypse: The Musical"
* use at least one object provided from the contest kiosk entry kit.
* include the line of dialog from the "MSFF2008 Dialog Line" notecard, included in the contest kiosk entry kit.
* include audio file "Wilhelm Scream", included in contest kiosk entry kit.
* be recorded in the SecondLife virtual world. Locations are *not* restricted to Squeebee's.
* be at least one (1) and no more than five (5) minutes total running time, not including opening titles or credits.
* be no larger then 640x480 resolution. (we suggest 15fps, for ease of streaming into SL)
* be turned in within 48 hours of the contest start, before 11:59PM SL time, Sunday, October 26th.
* be uploaded to http://blip.tv (create an account, if needed)
* sent URL, of uploaded content, to Moebius Overdrive, or Allen Kerensky, before 11:59PM SL time, 10/26/2008.

October 30th 8:00 PM SLT: Contest entries will debut, at the festival's award show, at Squeebee's MST3K Theater. Winners will be announced, that evening.

Moebius and I are US/Central, so, the only time(s) we can be involved in trying to do something fun like this would be after work hours in that timezone.

If someone UK/Euro time bought up that point sooner, we could have made adjustments... or, better yet, looked for a volunteer to organize/host a parallel UK-time friendly version of the contest with a separate awards presentation for those entries (to preserve the mystery of winning entries).

Lesson learned, even if far too late to be useful this time.
