There's a free trial version of fraps, just hunt it down.

The screen capture programme suggested, may not be compatible with your Operating System (Windows, Lunix, Mac), try posting some specs of your system, so ppls can focus their advise, rather than offering random suggestions.

You next task would be to search this forum, there is a huge array of very very useful information listed here by the many talented machinimast using SL.

Next, list what goals/level you want to acheive. Do you want to be the best, a hobby, just like to make some spare cash?

info on making SL videos

The web page below and pages it leads to offer links to software and instruction on making videos in SL and posting them on the web. The instructions focus on FRAPS, the sofrware commonly used for low-cost PC videography in SL But the FAQ page suggests alternative software if you are not using a PC.

The instruction covers video capture of raw files, editing and compressing with Windows Movie maker, making and editing audio files, using The GIMP to make stills, and (onthe FAQ page) details you may want to know after you start making videos.
