To ask a question.

Is it actually possible to record sound in a video from SL, I've got vid capture software that takes audio, and my other half has fraps (full version).

We've both had it set to record sound but it's fetching nowt on either. I've looked at a bazillion machinima's from other folk and not yet seen one with any SL sound in it.

So is it possible?

I've never used my computer to actually capture audio/video from SL. I merely port the audio out through the speaker jack, and route the video through RGB cable to a media converter. I run sl on one machine...and capture the video on another.

Yes, on PC. With Fraps (fraps.com). Costs about $40. Just be sure you set Fraps to record sound.

Sorry hun, unless he's doing something very very wrong it doesn't work. Ish no biggie though hehe, I'll stick to making my own noises, even if it did record sound I doubt SL would behave well enough to play said sounds on time!

I believe it could either be an issue with your sound device not routing the sounds ingame, or you have Mic selected as the recording source. Sometimes, having Stereo blend checked can record from more than one source. Apart from the impedance differences between them, you might try using a small jack lead, to plug into the mic socket and plug the other end into the line in/headphone, socket and asign the mic as your recording source, that would reroute the sounds, however, as I said there is an impedance difference, so the sound maybe too 'flat' to be of good quality.

You might also try and look at a sound source software programme that grabs the audio directly from the API, before it reaches your sound devices. In much the same way OpenGLGrabber redirects screen data.
