Motion control of SL camera

Hi all:

Is there any kind script or hud to provide motion control for the SL camera? While the camera controls have their place, it's different to control the speed of a dolly, truck, zoom, etc.

Additionally to make the camera behave more like RL cinematography, a way to pull focus and create DOF effects would be nice. On the other hand, maybe the processing power needed to create DOF and rack focus would be too great, so it would be wiser to do it in post. Just a thought, what thoughts do any of you have?

Thanks,
Adrian

You could do the DOF effect by using 2 seperate video layers, Like for a example a car with the background zooming past, teh car could be done with a blue screen and then put into the background video scene where the background video scene is blurred.

Rack focus is simply done ( By which i think what you mean by rack focus ) by the camera debug focus controls.

CTRL + 0 = Decrease Focal range
CTRL + 9 = Reset Focus
CTRL + 8 = Increase Focal range

There's the Alt-Zoom camera, which will let you set up complex moving shots. I've not used it myself but apparently it's pretty good.

There are some camera HUDs around which will allow you to easily change the view on your own avatar while you're doing other things, too. I'm sorry I can't be more precise, but if I need a scripted camera, well, I script one myself, so I don't really know the market too well.

Thanks for the referral for the Alt-Zoom camera, Ordinal. They can get it for free in the theater on Lukanida in front of the stage, or IM moo Money for it.

As for the fixed angle camera, you're referring to Yumi Murakami's BijoCam. I believe it comes up in search or the location can be found in her picks. Hope that helps. :)

Ordinal/Moo

Thanks for the link Ordinal and the tutorial moo. That's exactly what I needed to know.

Additional thanks to Zeera for the Rack focus info.

Adrian.
