I tried to record a live streaming music event, but none of the audio recorded. Is this not possible with Fraps (yes, I had Record Sound checked)? Or do I have some sort of internal problem with my pc? :// thanks!

My friends and I have done that many times. The only thing I know that you can't record with Fraps is your own voice. That would also apply to sending your own music audio via the voice channel. I have no idea what to suggest.

If you check your sound card/chip settings, you will see what default device is used for 'recording', there maybe a selection (xp), but only one in Vista. This is probably because Vista comes with its own anal controlling programmes for recording CD/DVD's to make sure you behave yourself.

It depends on both your sound card and the software to control it.

Check out all the mixer settings. I know that I have to select the "Stereo Mix" in the recording section to let Fraps capture the sound in the sound card.

I can also record my own voice to by selecting "Mic" in that same mixer.

Sorry I can't specify what you need to tick, as we probably have different sound cards. Unless you have the "Realtek Function driver for Realtek Azalia audio chip" in which case I can tell you exactly what to do :)

Personally I never record audio using fraps, I record the video with no audio, use a separate program for audio capture. If you're recording audio for an edit and you're using the fraps program, if you stop the video capture, you also stop the audio capture and could lose something. I know its not great to record 30 minute clips straight in fraps, so its defintiely something to think about.
