Ok...this is my bare bones attempt at shooting vid with xFire and using windows movie maker to edit. I got the gist, and Rafe was kind enough to give me some tips in the other forum, but he suggested I post here too~!

So....for those of you gurus......using xFire....and then editing in movie maker.....what do I do to get the best quality vid....without having a monsterous file. Also wondering how I eliminate clutter like menus and HUDs (possibly an advanced menu option in SL?)

And also smoothness of movement...I've never worried much about that since I never shot vids.....but I'd like to get my cam controls os fluid as possible, just not sure where/what settings I'll need to tweek in world.

When I tried viewing the movie, firstly it redirected me to a login page.. fortunately I have a Google Account.. but on signing in, it then informs me the video is marked 'private'....

View/Show HUD Attachments
Control-Alt-F1 to suppress the UI
Advanced/Character/Slow Motion Animations (useful at times)
Suppressing particles is useful if the UI is suppressed.

When I am filming me and need to toggle animations I suppress the UI but have the buttons lined up so I can hit them without seeing them. Focus on anim, too, will let you toggle with "Enter."

Make your SL window the size you want your finished video to be (I shoot at 1280x720 a lot then edit final versions that are WMV and a QT format), or in this clip you could crop out everything but you if you want.
