Hello!
When ever I start the "Capture movie to disk", it appears to go in to action allright. I get to choose where to save and everything. But When I stop it, it does not give me a message saing " stoped filming" (or anything), and when I go to my place of saving there´s nothing there! What am I doing wrong? Can anyone please tell me how to do this right! I would just love to be able to do movies here in sl, so much potientiel!
- best regards Pede Mayo!

I get that a lot

And my answer is always the same: Use Fraps. Here is link to instructions on how to start using Fraps: http://www.thinkerer.org/Studios/StuCamEd.htmCosts $40. What is an hour of your time worth? How much time have you already spent trying to get the native system to work? TM

Confused regards from P meyer I was able to get the default thing to work sometimes. But not realiably. I quickly concluded that the default thing was not worth my time. Fraps has a free download you can test. There are also other 3rd party programs that may be just a good as Fraps. And they. I have not used them so I can't say how well they work. I have talked to lots of people who had the same problem you described. So I think the problem is common. I suspect that the default thing has an undocumented quirk that causes it to fail unexpectedly. TM

Ok I see! So the defualt thing is unreliable to the point where it´s close to useless! Well I will go and tjeck out this " FRAPS". If theres a free testversion it´s worth the try. Thanks for your help TM, see you on the "battlefield".
Best regards from P MAYO

One of the main advantages of using programmes like Fraps and HyperCAM3 is that you can choose which region of the screen you want to make a movie of. The 'native' version does not, so you waste HD space and dropped frame rates taking movies of areas you don't want or need (unless you want to see the toolbar and screen frame with menus?). Even so, you can select 'window' or 'region' in both of these programmes. They have the additional feature of being able to take static screen shots using the hot keys asigned with the programme, rather than the crude version supplied in the client. I personally prefer HyperCAM 3 as it does not have the problem of importing into some editing programmes, and I can hold down a pre-asigned key and pan the region of the movie on the fly.

Fraps question!
03-31-2007 05:01
From: AWM Mars (unless you want to see the toolbar and screen frame with menus?). QUOTE]
Well now I have dl both fraps and Hypercam 2 ( can´t locate version 3) and they both seam to work very well. But how do you make fx fraps not recording the toolbar and other opend windows like camaracontrols- minimap etc.? They really have nothing to do in a video and I can´t make them disappear. Any surgestions???

Open the View menu in SL client viewer, deslect 'toolbar' that will remove the lower toolbar from the screen. Use 'Select Region' in HyperCam when running the SL Client and use the mouse to draw the screen region you want to take the footage from. Besure to select the folder etc from the Movie tab of Hypercam before you start shooting and select Hotkeys that dont conflict with other programmes you have running.
Use preferences in SL to remove name and group tags from the movie, foot shadows etc.. whatever you need.

AWM you forgot the basics...
control-alt-1
hides it all, except for HUDs. gotta detach those.
when you need a camera system, check out Filming Path which is L$1500 but easy to use, or Alt-zoom which is free but hard to use.

<sigh> with enough space and time, each part can be fully explained LOL. Your idea of putting together a 'tutorial' is a great one Geuis and can be found here Tutorial . It is in its infancy and awaits more input.
