Is there a video step by step on how to make videos on sl? I tried to do the looping thing... and nothing came up as a save.. or anything.. so of course of doing it all wrong. I'm not trying to make a video of me building, just "life events" for friends and family, on sl.. I'm pretty good at conversions, so I'm not to worried about that..its just making the movie to begin with.

I recommend to read through the basic machinima class history (blogged in mySLprofiles siten SL.me site as well). Probably you will find answers for many questions.

There is a web site/company called Electric Sheep, or something like that.
They have a little guide to making your first SL movie.
Their basic trick seems to be that you use two computers, one to login into SL, with the video out from that one going in to another where you capture the video.

I have instaled FRAPS, and i have actually made a couple, short clips, one that was 9mins..
I guess what I need to know is, is there a way to turn of the names and announcements? And how do I get really close up?? Heres a kicker.. I don't even know HOW I have gotten the video to start and stop. I just know that I have.

Two computers?
01-13-2007 04:05
I don't find any need for two computers. That was probably needed in the olden days. I did find my 2-year old HP inadequate. So I bought a top-of-the line HP Pavillion this summer. I have about 25 videos on YouTube, so I think I can speak with some experience.
BTW, I am not recommending a laptop. A tower would be cheaper and easier to upgrrade. I use a laptop because I am too old to lug a tower around.
My recommendation would be top level Nvidea, 2 gig ram, core duo, and things like that.
I get 20-30 FPS in my island (Thinkerer Quest). TM
