I have been using 'JoyStick FlyCam' for a week now, but using a Dual Action Gamepad.. the results are quite fluid, except when there is a lot of scripts firing, then I found the 'camera' flys out to the edge of the SIM.

First real results can be seen here

Great job on the video, AWM. Represents a lot of work!

Those folks really went all out on the wedding!

BTW, the video doesn't come up for me in Firefox.
IE is OK...

Cheers,
Infrared.

AWM, you shouldn't have to run an ActiveX control to play a movie. Just link the quicktime or flash version directly via an embed or object tag

Hi,
Thanks for your valued feedback.

I don't know if you are aware, the Quick Time release 7.1 has some issues and they have since released several 'minor' updates, which should have warranted a major release, as the previous updates were bugged.

The reason I use the ActiveX controls on the website, is to simply give visitors the opportunity to collect these updates, which they may not be otherwise aware of. I haven't found a way to link that ActiveX 'feature' to a manual button. A click link would be simply bypassed by most users.

The movie is both embedded and as a poster, in the hope that Mozilla users could render the movies, but it would seem there are incompatabilities still. All I can do, is to convert the movie to flv in the near future and add a link for that.

Yeah doesn't work for me either, none of yours ever have. Not sure what your website stats say, but mine tells me 33.1% of my visitors use Firefox. I'm not certain why anyone would shaft that many people. Some of your movies have the flv option, but those are so compressed they look worse then if you used youtube.

I'm certain its not the ActiveX control that's messing up Firefox as my website works fine with both browsers. All I see when viewing with Firefox is a big QT symbol that doesn't actually do anything at all, which if I remember correctly the poster is designed to play when someone clicks on it.

Might I mention also alternatively publishing your videos on Blip.tv. That will immediately give you a high quality flash video to link to, but also gives the user the option of downloading the video too.

Actually, the figures for Firefox are less than 2%, thats out of an average of 850,000 links per month. I am planning to use the flv conversion from the original raw movie data which should improve quality greatly. I'd prefer to use shockwave but the files are just too big.

The movies, although show on the website, are really destined for ingame showing. Funny enough, SL's client renders them better in game, than IE or any other browser I have tried through the internet.

I don't want to use a 3rd party website to host/show the movies, full stop. I prefer to keep the stats accurate for our clients.

Thanks Infrared, appreciated. 350+gb of raw data, to capture enough useable footage for the finished movie, saved onto our raid bank of 2.3tb SATA II HD's, but we think it is worth it. Our concept was to go beyond just the wedding, we wanted to make a 'Wedding Album' which included the courtship, proposal, right through to the wedding and carriage whisking them away on honeymoon (no we didn't film the honeymoon).

Cheronne and Dylan have created a awesome place where they offer exsquisit weddings for anyone in SL, we hope we did that justice. The movie is streamed to a Silver Stream Network screen just outside the main entrance for all to see, although a slightly lower resolution version, of the one on the website.

I am tempted to make an 'outakes' version... where it shows Cheronne driving off into the sea in the carriage, or where she turnned about to take another shot and took the camera man out :D , or where.... well.. maybe another time lol.
