shoot me now.....  Now that I'm all stoked about doing videos.....turns out the movie maker program that comes standard with my XP is about as mind numbingly annoying as it can get. It freezes constantly (after checking out some other forums, I find this is apparently a known glitch for many users) So....that said......is there another program I can get....either free or maybe not break the bank expensive? It seems that xFire is pretty simple and reliable for capturing the vids.....but for editing.....movie maker has me ready to pull my hair out (and after one go round with Alopecia I really don't want to go that route) Any alternative suggestions would be mucho appreciated.   |

Debugmode Wax is an extremely powerful editor that is free. I played with it a bit and its UI is bare bones tech. Cool never have heard about it before. Pinnacle makes it so it is probably pretty good. Defiantly worth checking out. Even though I use Vegas 9 I like to look at freebies too because sometimes you find transitions and effects that paid programs don't have a counterpart to. Thanks guys, I'll look at those...
But, just a note....after reading more forums on WMM I discovered that one fix to the glitch is to go into WMM tools, compatibility, and uncheck all the boxes (I only had 2 lol) but.....when I tried my project after that.....no more freezes!!! Ha! go figure.

Actually, the cheap version of Sony Vegas is only like $50 from memory. Its very useable, especially as you have been using MovieMaker, you will find this a big step up in power and functionality.
