lol.. great theme... although I have to ask the question.... why not use SL as a machinima creation environment? We (WBA) amongst many others have been doing this for quite some time.

I am not knocking what you have done, because it looks a fair alternative form, but I wonder what is your market?

but i *did* use SL to make my machinima
or have i just misunderstood your point?

it just so happens that the machinima i made demonstrates an in-world
device i made for making web-comics
other than the opening titles, it was filmed entirely in SL

my director of machinimatography has also been making machinima in
sl for quite a while. i strongly recommend her 'whale of a tale', still my
favourite sl machinima

Taking the point that you did make it using SL's platform, it is certainly unusual, but not in a bad way..... more of an alternative. It wasn't apparent that it was made in SL, which may have been your point. iClone can do that sort of presentation quite well, without the need for the SL environment.
Do you have a market for this style?

i'm not trying to sell it as a way of making machinima - though anyone that wants to is welcome. if they want to employ me to make them, i'll happily consider requests :-)
tho i don't expect any.

the point is simply to be able to make web-comics in sl without using a graphics program.
the machinima simply demo's that. see http://slgames.wordpress.com/2007/08/08/sl-toon-studio/

cheers

Thanks for making that clearer for me :) .

Given the media style, you may wish to consider utilising it to create childrens animated learning movies. If I was you, I would create a few story boards (you could use existing childrens stories), and turn those into an animated series. If you use an existing story, approaching the publishing house and seek permissions, by explaining what you are doing and that you will send them copies for proofing. They may wish to take you up on some joint venture to promote that style of media... which would open a whole new world for your style, perhaps by including a small format DVD/CD rom disc included with the book? Although there is nothing new in that marketing approach, what would surely be appealing, is the very low production costs.

Worth exploring....
