Flycam question

Hey everyone !!

so I recently purchased a logitech gamepad (that works with Mac) so that I can do some flycam stuff with it.
So I go to Client and set the flycam settings according to what a business partner uses so I can test it out, but all it does is set the left joystick to be a mouse movement

All the other buttons on the gamepad dont do a damn thing even when I set them in the flycam menu :(( I even have USB overdrive... I don't understand why it's not working.

Anyone have any idea?

You need to open the Client Debug menu and click on Joystick Flycam.

My gamepad has two joystick controls. To use both I have to hit the
Analog button on the gamepad.

As for the other buttons I don't know of any way to map them in SL...yet.

Hi Infrared! thanks for the reply. I contacted you in game if you don't mind.

What do you mean by Client Debug Menu? It just means in Second Life, I click Client and select Joystick Flycam- correct? I did that, but it still didn't work. What do you mean by analog button? On mine it says mode- is that the analog button? Then what?

Thanks.. I appreciate your help

If your gamepad doesn't work after clicking on Joystick Flycam, then I'm not sure
what the problem is. Maybe try testing it under Game Controllers in Windows,
if that's what you're using.

The mode button should be a toggle for Analog and Digital modes. On my
gamepad Analog gives me two more axis.

The joystick flycam doesn't work on OS X right now. There is a patch out there that adds support for Mac but you have to build yourself a viewer from the source code and then apply the patch. I did it and it works. Here the info:
https://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/Get_source_and_compile
http://jira.secondlife.com/browse/VWR-2516

If I can figure out how to make a version that I can send to someone I'll try to make it available (I'm totally new to building apps - I just wanted to test this thing on OS X).

wow thank you, both of you!

But ye gods that mac fix looks complicated. I have NOOOOOOOO clue what ANY of it means or does. Isn't there some type of step by step?? I downloaded it and the text file is a bunch of technical stuff that I can't figure out for the life of me. Is there anything I can do?

The Logitech Gamepad I use (for windows) came with 'Game Profiler' software. Although SL isn't listed, you can create a profile for SL, by pointing the programme to the SecondLife.exe file and then map the various buttons/joysticks etc to the various movements used by FlyCam.

If your Mac version is a USB, make sure you plug it in and let the OS load the approporate drivers before you start SL. Once the client starts, it cannot initalise USB drivers on the fly.

The loading of any USB device drivers is transparent to the user, hence why many people don't assume any are loaded.

SL's client doesn't refresh drivers once loaded, so thats why I said always plug in any USB devices before you open the client.

There are a lot of either old of generic drivers that come with the OS, it is always better to install drivers direct from the manufacturers.

The Game Profiler programme I spoke of, is a seperate programme supplied with the Gamepad which came on the CD. I assume you may be able to download a copy from the website?

i think installing windows is just easier.... theres no website for the gamepad, there's really nothing. i was told the only driver i need to install is like usb overdrive that lets me set comands for it.. but it's not helping and makes things confusing.

yeah i tried everything.. but thank you anyway. if you know ayone with a mac that can use flycam, can you please refer me to them?

The Logitech driver/software page is here http://www.logitech.com/index.cfm/411/&cl=gb,en?prodcrid=411 choose your device and OS, it will not only load the drivers, but the game profiler software as well.
