Since the change in SL for the voice interface the ctrl+alt+1 doesnt seem to hide the interface anymore. Can someone tell me how I can do that now??

You need to have your client and server menus activated (ctrl-alt d) and then use ctrl-alt-F1.

Ctrl+Alt+F1 (not 1) Works for me, on Windows, provided the Client and Server menus are enabled.

Same issue here too DragonFly - I can no longer make machinima in SL until this is corrected.

Getting Ctl-Alt-F1 to work

I read the posts on the switch from Ctl-Alt-1 to Ctl-Alt-F1, but also couldn't get it to work on my laptop, while i found it did work on my desktop. I haven't figured out a cause as yet, but the following does work on both: Client->Rendering->Features->UI.
